Mohawks were done by a handful of troopers just prior to D-Day. Check out 1940s US military haircuts on Google for additional reference regarding what was seen at other times during the war.

Mohawks and the infamous 8 ball hair cut were given to troops prior to d day as a form of punishment. The Mohawk or scalplock became popular as Pee Wee mentioned right before d day. If I remember correctly, I believe Bill True mentioned that he and Joe Liebgott had a bet to see who could give more Mohawk haircuts before the drop.

Landon,
I'd suggest you avail yourself of the books and research capabilities in your school library. To HONOR the men and women who served in WWII, it's important to KNOW what's real and what's fake; what was common, what was not. As I said, you have three solid years to be one of the best historians you can be.
Use this time wisely.
