Does appear that the "Airborne" mafia is getting smaller in the Puzzle Palace. Have been waiting for this to happen ever since '71 when the Division came home from Nam. The 173rd was to have been the 4th Airborne brigade of the Division, and they got sent to Italy instead. Guess the new beret will make up for the loss of over 70 years of history. So what color goes well with air assault? Puke green or neon yellow. Well we all know, air assault school is as tough as Jump School. God how I miss the old "Bullwinkle" wings days of air assault. But the only problem is that the Division is a AIR MOBILE one not air assault! So will they rename the wings to that of Air Assault instead of air mobile? this is what happens when you have way too many Generals with free time on their hands that have a hard on for the airborne cause they were not able to earn their wings. Sad state of affairs in deed!

"Air Assault" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

At the JAG school we could volunteer to go to either airborne or air assault school afterwards. We competed in basically a physical fitness test and they'd send the top 5 or so from each group based on how much funding they had. About half of the volunteers selected airborne and the other half air assault. I could not understand why anyone would pick air assault over airborne.
