Looks like another vet has made his way to the rally point. Aaron and I spent the better part of Saturday shooting up the desert in Camp Verde, about an hour and a half from my house. As we traveled to and from we talked a lot about books on D-Day and Don Burgette's Currahee was one of them. This afternoon I happened to go on line to see if I could find a copy of Road to Arnhem. When I googled his name I was sad to find that he had past away not 4 days ago. God bless, Don. Blue sky's and soft landings. You have a lot of friends waiting to welcome you home. www.legacy.com/obituaries/freep/obituary.aspx?n=donald-robert-burgett&pid=184721351&fhid=3249

Hoping that his last jump was a good one with a soft DZ, lots of his buddies on site to meet him there.
Rest in Peace Trooper!

I had hoped to meet Don later this year. One of my friends back in MI was trying to figure out a time to meet him and I was going to tag along. It is crazy how different things can be in just a couple days, and definitely reminds me how precious the time we have now is to get a chance to talk with the few guys that are still around.
Rest in peace Don! Soft landings
