1) Jon Holland, 48, Fort Bliss Texas
2) How'd you hear about our site? After reading "Fighting Fox Company" I was doing some online research on Fox and found this site.
3) Reenacting experience? None but I've been a Soldier for 29 years.
4) Why do you want to join? I'm more interested in the group as a source of research and reference than I currently am in being a WW2 reenactor. However I am interested in reenacting but time is a precious commodity and many things compete for the little free time I have at the moment.
5) What knowledge do you have of WW2 and US paratroopers? Extensive knowledge of both.
6) Contact with WW2 veterans? I had a grandfather and two great uncles who served during the war. They've all answered their last roll call years ago though. Outside my family I've met a many WW2 veterans, and a few Great War veterans as well. In Nov 15 I had the pleasure of meeting "Beamy" Beamesderfer, a former 101st D Day pathfinder, veteran of Holland and Bastogne. The most notable veteran I've ever known was the late Col Robert K. Morgan, pilot of the Memphis Bell. 7) What can you bring to the unit? I love historical research, enjoy public speaking and sharing knowledge. Its been said I've forgotten more history than most people ever learn. LOL
8) Anything else we should know about you? I'm an active duty army officer with two airborne assignments under my belt and several overseas tours. I'm an avid student of military history who enjoys all aspects of history whether it be reading, research, travel, battlefield tours, table top war gaming, model building, relic collecting...the list goes on. In fact my wife lovingly refers to our house as "The Museum" due to my collection of books and artifacts.

We have a great time. Come check us out. There is refresher training available to get you current. In 2014 we jumped in Normandy and Holland for the 70th anniversary. An even bigger op is planned for the 75th in 2019.

Welcome Jon!
One of my favorite parts of reenacting is how much I've been able to learn so quickly. I started about 1.5 years ago and since then tore through half a dozen books, participated in a number of tactical & public events, met several WWII Veterans, and have completed 7 jumps with the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team as well as being an active member with that organization.
This is a terrific unit and these guys have taught me a lot

Rabbit I'm already feeling the camaraderie just from being a forum member but the Airborne Demo Team and Fox Company reenacting has increased my interest in 101st's WW2 history even more. Funny how things like this go. Until mid last week I didn't even know the group existed then next thing you know I find the webpage, learn you all have a parachute demo team and a buddy of mine sees me on Saturday and asks, out of the blue, if I'd like to by his M1 Garand! Snatched it up for $600! This Fox Fever is really taken hold in me.
