My name is Max Waite, I'm 17 years old, from Phoenix, Arizona.
I've been looking for a decent reenacting unit for probably about year and a half, and somehow managed to skip over this group every time (don't ask me how I managed to do that). I recently found this page and here I am.
I have not done combat reenactment before, but I currently have three US WWII impressions (and a couple from other periods as well) and they are all generally serviceable, with some alterations. I also noticed that you actually have to show worth in order to "rank up" if you will (very cool aspect), and I can/will make changes to my current uniform accordingly. I have no problem with it.
I have chose this unit because I love airborne stuff in general. I began researching airborne things probably about three years ago and began putting a kit together. I probably finished the impression a couple months ago. Airborne is just really cool to me. Just to think about how innovative and new it was, and how tough those guys were. It would be the ultimate honor to be able to reenact who those guys were.
I'm not as old as most of the guys here, but I have a strong knowledge of WWII. I watch movies, play games, read books, go to museums, talk to vets, research online, and many other ways. I'm much more proficient in gear knowledge than I am in battle knowledge, though.
I have had contact with other vets. Mostly Navy, but a couple Marines, Seabees, and infantry. Unfortunately no paratroopers.
I can bring quitea bit to the table for this group. I really love the European theatre and everything that happened. I have a lot of passion for what I do and I'm crazy for full immersion. I have a finished kit (only no rifle, I could get one soon after my approval) and I can take criticism/guidance without crying about it. I have gone to Culver Summer School for five years, this next summer being my last. I know how to listen to a superior and deal with military formation daily.
That's really everything about me. The only other big facts about me are that I am an avid musician and love star wars and cosplay. That being said, my attention to detail is pretty solid.
One question I have is where meetings generally take place (I have looked everywhere but haven't really found a definitive answer).
Thank you for considering my request to join the unit. I look forward to a response!
