Hello everyone my name is John and I'm from Redding California and I'm eighteen years old going on nineteen in November.
I heard about Fox Company by looking for paratrooper company to reenact with. I started searching online and stumbled upon your company when looking for a unit.
My reenacting experience just includes Civil War reenacting nothing. I do want to branch out and try new eras to reenact.
Why I would like to join your unit is for research for a play that my director wants to put together and a few scenes of the play takes part in the waning months of WW2 in Germany where we have two paratroopers patrolling where they are unfortunately cut off from the rest of their unit. The Director wants the two of us to get a taste for WW2 era combat to see how it would feel like to be under fire and trying to make it back to you company while avoiding the enemy. She believes that it will add a layer of authenticity that will make the play even better than without this immersion. And what drew us to your unit instead of any other unit is that we wanted a unit that was known for its hard fighting in the European theater during WW2 and the 101st was the right unit for the play
I've done a lot of reading about World war 2 and I love to learn more about it when I get the chance. And I know that the role of the American paratrooper was to be dropped behind enemy lines in mass to overwhelm the enemy and capture strategic points so that other allied forces can come through and push the enemy back along with the paratrooper.
I have previously talked to WW2 veterans before and discussed what their job was during the war. One gentlemen that I've talked to fought in the Pacific as a P-38 pilot and another veteran I've talked to was apart of the Hitler Youth during the Battle of Berlin in 1945. His story was really interesting to hear when he was in command of other kids around his own age and not many came back to formation when they had to fall back.
What I can bring to this unit is someone that is eager to learn what it takes to become a paratrooper, someone who can follow orders to the dot and see to get them done. If need be I can even direct others into battle if there was ever a situation that commands that, and I can also bring that I won't quit when I'm tired or my feet are sore. I'll keep pushing through till the mission is achieved. And I will be great asset to this company for I want to know what it was like to be a paratrooper back in WW2.
There isn't much else that you should know about me besides that I'm really eager to join you guys and see what WW2 reenacting is all about.
