1) Name, Age, and Location.

2) How did you hear about Fox Company, 506th?
- Through the Internet? Basically, I looked you guys up.
3) Do you have any reenacting experience? Have you done World War II reenacting before?
- The closest I've reenacted was for the LA Air Raid event 2016 in 1940's period wear Army uniforms. I've never reenacted before in my life.
4) Why do you want to join our unit? What drew you to us instead of some of the other Allied units in the CHG and RPS?
- I want to be a part of something bigger than myself and learn about living history. The other units doesn't seem as disciplined as you are.
5) What knowledge do you have of the Second World War? Are you familiar with the roles of the American paratrooper?
- I know a lot about WW2 (in the military aspect) from front to end. I'm not familiar except for the fact that Paratroopers was a new technology for forward reconnaissance and military strategy at the time (being able to go behind enemy lines).
6) Have you had any contact with World War II veterans previously?
- Not directly.
7) What can you bring to this unit? Will you be an asset?
- I don't have much to offer to the table, I just want to join and connect with people. I can make recruiting videos for the public image of this unit.
8) Anything else we should know about you?
- I'm currently a Civil Air Patrol cadet (Rank/Insignia/Grade: Cadet Airman First Class). I'm a Digital Filmmaking Major at Santa Monica College on my 2nd year. I'm a Christian. I don't mind doing a support role as a new recruit (I might actually like it).

Your knowledge will expand greatly as you learn about one of the toughest outfits in WWII
The paratrooper's role is well documented and you should start your own research asap
Come to this forum often and challenge yourself by reading our vast library of posts and unit history/info
We appreciate your interest and invite you to log in as much as you can to observe our day to day interaction
Seeing that you are new to reenacting we have a pretty good loaner gear program
Get familiar with us and we hope you become interested enough to come out sometime

Welcome to the forum Daniel!
Make sure to read up, there is a lot of great information about WWII reenacting, and our units history.
I was also in Civil Air Patrol. I ended at Senior Master Sergeant and I really enjoyed my time in CAP. There are a lot of things you learn there that are very applicable to reenacting. |

Gee, thanks for the warm welcome gentlemen! Time-wise I think I can make it to almost any event(I really want to attend Ft. Mac and Chino Air show). I'm optimistic about learning new things and maybe take back some good things from this reenacting experience back to my home CAP squadron.

Where is your squadron based? Does California CAP put on Search And Rescue (SAR) Academy, Basic Encampment, or anything like that?

My home squadron is based in Santa Monica, CA. It's called Clover Field Composite Squadron 51. Yes, they have all of the above. I've recently graduated from Basic Encampment and the cadet noncommissioned officer school. I hope to attend the National Blue Beret event at Oshkosh, WI this summer.

I always wanted to attend that event and get my Blue Beret (don't know if they do that anymore, this was in 2004)
I hope you get the chance to attend, I had heard great things about it from my fellow cadets.

Welcome to the forums, Daniel.
My name is Sgt. Peter "Pee Wee" Panacy, and I'm one of the recruiting NCOs for the unit. As you can likely tell, this group is one of the most tight-knit units in California and we are proud to represent one of the most storied units in WWII.
Great to know you have some experience doing this sort of thing already. But you'll want to research as much as you can in preparation for joining the unit. So get reading, ask questions and prepare as much as you can.
In the meantime, I've changed your status from "recruit" to "FNG." You'll have a little more access to the boards, so make sure you check out what you can and learn as much as possible.
We're gearing up for an event in April, and it would be great to see you out there. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Sgt. Gehry, I did receive your email. My apologies about not responding so promptly. If you check your email, I have responded with a couple questions. I do have an additional question. That question is as follows: Do you know the surplus store on Venice Bl. and Motor Ave.? I was wondering if that's a good place to start for finding gear.
